Our School
Houston Classical Charter School (“Houston Classical”) was chartered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to open in Houston in August 2020, beginning with kindergarten and first grade. The school has an accomplished and committed Board, which includes a founding Board and a Head of School. The Role
The Operations Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of campus operations. Reporting to the Director of Campus Operations, this position supports critical operational systems including child nutrition, transportation coordination, facilities requests, and basic technology support. The Operations Coordinator ensures that students, families, and staff experience efficient and well-organized school operations each day. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organization, and a service-oriented mindset, as the coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for operational needs across the campus.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Child Nutrition Operations
- Manage daily meal rostering and student meal service systems to ensure accurate tracking of breakfast and lunch participation.
- Maintain and update student meal eligibility information and ensure compliance with all Child Nutrition Program requirements.
- Support meal count accuracy and maintain documentation required for state and federal reporting.
- Coordinate closely with food service staff to ensure smooth daily meal service operations.
Assist with preparation for audits, reviews, and compliance monitoring related to child nutrition programs.
Transportation Coordination
- Oversee daily student transportation logistics to ensure students safely board the correct buses and depart campus efficiently.
- Serve as the primary campus liaison for transportation vendors, addressing delays, routing issues, and student transportation needs.
- Communicate with families regarding transportation questions, route changes, and student ridership updates.
- Maintain accurate student transportation rosters and ridership records.
- Support dismissal procedures and ensure safe and organized student pick-up and bus loading.
Campus Operations Support
- Maintain operational records related to transportation and child nutrition programs.
- Support the Director of Campus Operations with operational projects and campus logistics.
- Provide exceptional customer service to staff, students, families, and vendors.
- Assist with coordination of operational needs across the campus to ensure smooth daily operations.
Technology Support
- Serve as the campus point of contact for basic technology needs and troubleshooting.
- Submit and track technology support tickets for staff and classrooms.
- Assist with device distribution, inventory tracking, and technology setup for staff and students.
- Coordinate with the network technology team to ensure timely resolution of technology requests.
School Safety
- Support implementation of campus safety procedures and emergency management protocols.
- Assist with coordinating safety drills and maintaining documentation.
- Help maintain safety compliance records and incident documentation.
- Support coordination with campus leadership during emergency or safety situations.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in operations, administrative support, or school/educational operations; experience in finance, child nutrition, transportation, or facilities preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with financial or student information systems is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with staff, families, and vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to identify operational issues, propose solutions, and follow through to resolution.
- Understanding of state, federal, and organizational policies and regulations related to student data, transportation, child nutrition, and school operations
